songs of myself

we love the way the stars are scattered…. and they never make a mistake in their arrangement. what about mountain ranges? do you criticize the valleys for being low, praise the peaks for being high? we just say, its great, its the way it is.

Hilary J. Corts: Visualising Music
What better way to welcome in 2012 than with photography that captures the spirit of a party, that ephemeral beauty when you watch live music and draws you in, clearing your mind of everything else that could possibly have happened before or could ever happen after. For that one split second, when you’re bouncing up and down with the swathes of hot bodies around you, when you’re truly captivated.
Brooklyn-based photographer, Hilary J Corts came out of Syracuse into the world of New York live music and hit the ground running. Her immediate love for discovering new music and being an active part of the live scene propelled her into music photography – opening the velvet ropes to gigs. From big names like Incubus and Eisley to breakthrough artists, Corts is quickly becoming part of the music scene herself – capturing a striking anthology of great live and behind-the-scenes moments.

Things are as they are. Looking out into it the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.Alan Watts (via kari-shma)

These stunning photographs are of Golden Fireflies in Japan! This series captures the fireflies in long exposure as they mate after thunderstorms.
